ios8.4 on iPhone does not seem to support widgets that play on the page

ios8.4 on iPhone does not seem to support widgets in iBooks that play on the page. On the iPad, my book "Balloon ABC" plays widget based animations directly on the page while on the iPhone it plays the animation on an overlay page which must then be closed before you can proceed to the next page - a less desirable user experience. Is there any way to get the widgets to play on the page?
