Q: iOS 8.4 music app

*** apple? iOS 8.4 music app and the radio that you are pushing on us. I didn't want it when it first came out as I have my own music selection. I tried radio and it sucked, now 8.4 forces apple radio onto the unwary. I couldn't believe all the music I deleted from my devices you automatically made me follow these artist who I no longer have interest in. It will take a little getting used to the new music app, it has some good things but gee. Some people may like the radio but for me it just didn't interest me. Also not all countries have the freedom of cheap Internet data, so to use apple radio it is just nasty on data costs. I think I hear Steve Jobs screaming ***

I can't discern your question, perhaps you can simplify a little.

    Try this:

Settings -> Music > turn off "Show Apple Music"

I think that the core of it is that the updated deleted all the locally installed music off the phone. It did the same to me. I went form 15 gig of music to nothing.

I expected a better music app than this. This is so bloated now it is beyond comprehension, the layout is unattractive and far too complicated for a music player. Bad on my iphone, but worse on the ipad.I'm metuculous with my metadata and album art and the displays on ipad and iphone make it look a waste of time. Why shrink album art in new music app? and the letters on the right side for selections are too small for my fingers, can't even press A as always go end up being sent to search! Might just go back to simple ipod classic after this nightmare update. All this and that's before all the new itunes match problem and corrupting my music files (local and in icloud). It just works?? With every update it gets more broken! Anyone know a good alternative music app (iphone/ipad) or music player for macbook?

YEARZERO1 I totally agree, I was thinking the same about a new music app. Who knows maybe appl will correct it in the iOS 9

I too agree that the player is a bit bloated and tough to navigate. I would have liked to have seen the Apple Music specific stuff as far as "New" and "For You" and "Connect" each be demoted to just one tab, so that the library itself could remain the dominant focus with tabs still at the bottom for "Artists" or "Genres" or whatever we want to put there, like before. I like the Apple Music addition, I just would have done the interface a bit differently. Now the app is centered around discovery rather than just enjoying the content we already have and being able to just devote 1 tab to discovering new music. I do like how the artist and album pages render though. The "More By" and "You may also like" are nice additions for me but I can see how some wouldn't like it. I think this can be disabled though. In fact, all of the Apple music features can be disable in Settings.

Why does the albums tap now organize by artist? Wasn't the whole point of the albums tab that it organized albums alphabetically? I don't suppose I can change that?

Also, while this isn't quite an issue, the new designs is also frankly unattractive and much less user-friendly.

    Try Settings > Music

Change sort albums to by title

Thanks for that tip. Removing Apple Music already made the App a little more usable. Before that it was a disaster.

Having "Radio" and "Connect" in the main Navigation still makes it too bloated. I can't understand why Apple didn't simply make a separate App for Radio features such as "Apple Music", "Apple Radio", "Connect" etc. After all they did do it right with "Itunes" years ago.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing to have new features, I just find that it is essential to have a simple Music App on your phone that is designed to play your Music. If you feel like playing your favorite songs from you music collection, you don't want to read twitter feeds or browse radio stations.

I would have been better to make a easier implementation of the rating system in the app

I had made a playlist to use on the apple watch, so now when I go to the playlist it kind of has a little normality. It use to be so easy to go to my song list and hit shuffle ...now it's what the? Where

Same as mine. and for some reason the explicit music collections that I Purchased by the way and to elaborate further to Apple, I paid for it, now I'm not allowed to play or download it. What's the deal? you don't take people's stuff without notifying them.

TTry signing out of the store, exiting iTunes, and signing back in again.
