Q: iOS 8.4 music app

*** apple? iOS 8.4 music app and the radio that you are pushing on us. I didn't want it when it first came out as I have my own music selection. I tried radio and it sucked, now 8.4 forces apple radio onto the unwary. I couldn't believe all the music I deleted from my devices you automatically made me follow these artist who I no longer have interest in. It will take a little getting used to the new music app, it has some good things but gee. Some people may like the radio but for me it just didn't interest me. Also not all countries have the freedom of cheap Internet data, so to use apple radio it is just nasty on data costs. I think I hear Steve Jobs screaming ***

My choice was to downgrade to iOS 8.3. It's a shame.

here something else that's wrong...  any artist that has more than three albums you can not shuffle that artist.  was trying to have a foo fighter day after the concert in DC and found that out.  that needs to be fixed asap!!!

I'm also having trouble figuring out where the controls are. I have a playlist open but I can't skip songs on it unless I turn the phone off, then back on, and use the controls in the lock screen.

Where are the actual controls when I have the music app open and a playlist in progress? I preferred the old interface - this one makes no **** sense. I figure if I have to come to a forum to try and find help for something as simple as skipping a track I'm listening to, then Apple has really screwed up.

I've never been a fan of iTunes as a way to curate and collect music, but this new phone app is even worse. I'm pretty unimpressed and I wish I hadn't updated until this was fixed.

ETA: I also can't figure out how to tell if shuffle is on or off on a playlist. WTH, Apple? This is well below the standards we all know you're capable of.

ETA: Ha! OK, got it: when you have a playlist open and a song playing, tap the song title at the bottom and it will show you the controls. It's clunky and stupid, but it's there! To get back to your playlist, tap the little down arrow in the upper left corner. I hope this saves someone some frustration.

You can also use the control center by swiping up from the bottom from any app while music is playing. You have the options to pause, go back, or skip tracks. You can also use Siri to say "Skip" and your song will be skipped.

Horrible update. Preferred the tabs at the bottom song, artist album etc. Now we have this stupid spotify rip off and apple radio jumbled in same section with music that’s been purchased. No quick way of changing between artist, song or album. I was going to buy a new iPod, but seeing this update I’m not going to waste my cash. Even after turning apple music off it doesn’t seem to help the layout. Don’t know who thought this was a good idea but please return to old style music library. Have the radio/spotify thing as a separate app.

Most of my music in my library has come from my massive cd collection.  It takes me a few hours to sync everything to my phone. (I recently got a iPhone 6 and it took 3 hours to sync all of my music and have everything the way I wanted it!)  With this new update, I am now missing music from my phone that was there before the update took place, have live versions of songs that I've never heard of compared to studio versions that I did have on CDs, and songs that I did not have checked to sync to my phone back on the phone (like Christmas music that took months to get off my phone the last time!)  Is there a way to get my old stuff back the way I had it?!? I'm very frustrated that once again an Apple update will take me hours to fix, if not months for a new update!

I'm currently turning off automatic downloads on my devices, turn it all off to save your money until they sort out these bugs. Quite annoying

This is also a MAJOR pet peeve I have. It was annoying from the Itunes updates but now this is ridiculous!

I have playlists. In fact I listen to my music using playlists. The difference is that before listening to a one with the repeat one feature an enabled and being able to move on to another song is a very great feature. The whole "I'm going to repeat the same song and you can't do nothing but restart the song and can't move on" is very annoying. That feature wasn't broken and now it is.

Thanks for the help but that didn't help one bit.

And how are you attempting to move to another song?
