Apple Music/iTunes Replacing My Album Artwork

Hi. This might have been the case for a while, or maybe I'm just noticing it now that I'm trying Apple Music. In any event, I've noticed that my album artwork on my iPhone has been changing to images that I have never picked. I'm pretty meticulous about my album artwork, and I know what's correct for my albums. Is there a way to prevent this from happening and for my own album artwork to remain the way it is? Thanks.

If you go into the Music tab in the Settings app, you can disable the iCloud Music Library. That will prevent Apple Music from interacting with what's saved on your phone and changing any of the artwork. Albums that have already been changed may need to be resynced. This doesn't prevent you from streaming from Apple Music, though it does prevent you from saving streamed playlists for offline use. Hopefully there's a better workaround than this, because right now it seems the only option is to do this and isolate your on phone library from the streaming one, or allow them to intermix and end up with wrong album art and multiples of the same song, sometimes not even the correct version.

I don't use Match or Apple Music but was getting iTunes selected artwork everytime I synched on my new iPod Touch 6, not my own. Read that the way to solve is putting my device on Airplane Mode; then, the iPod can't go to the iTunes Store to get album artwork...it just synchs what I have in my library. As an extra measure, during synching, I disconnect from Wi-Fi. The only artwork available then is from your library. I found updating my iPod mixes the artwork as I have to go in the internet to download the updates. I've decided no more updates unless it directly affects me or my iPod.

I subscribe to Match (4 years) and Apple Music (out of the gate)—his is VERY annoying and it is getting WORSE! At first it was just my iOS devices—seemingly random artwork for albums and songs, it has now spread to my Macs. I have artist who I have 10 albums for and the artwork is the same for all 10 albums (OS).

It would be one thing to do this to my Apple Music library; it is unacceptable to do it to my personal library especially my “master Mac”. I have physically loaded decades worth of CDs, for some older stuff I had to locate and physically add artwork. I am visual person and you are removing my “cues”. PLEASE, please, PLEASE, fix this issue!

i think the solution is very simple...(it works for me)

i do disable all ibraries, i also create an account to apple music...

i even try to sync iPhone on iTunes without any network connection...

nothing works. every time i try to load a new playlist, apple music replace some album artworks.

finally by accident i found the solution, by going on iPhone to GENERAL>RESTRICTIONS. first enable restrictions , then uncheck(disable) apple music connect button.

that's it. i tested several times with different playlists and no album artwork change.

you can also notice that the "connect" sign in music disappear . Only left the sections : my music, playlists and radio

it is very annoying that apple, trying in a sneaky way force us to buy...very dangerous manipulations...

I too have experienced this issue. I copied all of my CD collection and scanned the album covers. I have put a lot of time and effort into organizing my music library. I recently got Apple Music and I love it so far, this is really the only thing I have noticed that I don't like. Some of the changes I don't mind because it put album covers on some that had no image and a few of my scanned covers that were low resolution were replaced with a better image. But others have a completely different album cover attached, this is frustrating because Elton John's Madman across the water now has a Greatest hits cover!? Other albums have artwork of a different album by the same artist and when I look at the album to which that cover belongs it has artwork to an album I don't even have in my collection. I understand filling in artwork that doesn't exist or replacing low res with better quality pics, but to completely alter my library with album covers that have nothing to do with the tracks in question is just mind boggling! Dear Apple: Please work to correct this, as an audiophile who takes his music seriously this is a frustrating issue and I would be very happy to see this change. I am still an advocate for Apple Music and will still recommend to those around me but for me this issue has to change, Please and Thank You.

Sincerely

Dedicated Apple fan and proud user.

This is still happening. Here's a bizarre example: The artwork for Ben Harper's 'Burn To Shine' album is correct when I select it from the library, but when the last song 'In The Lord's Arms' plays the artwork changes to something called 'The Bridge Collection'. Clearly this is not just some bug, but systemic failure. It's been years now since Apple Music failures were first brought to the attention of the company. Apple has a wealth of feedback contributed for free by people who want the product to improve. But Apple don't ...
