HBO Now has no video with iPad 3 and HDMI to TV

- HBO Now works on the iPad 3 screen by itself. But when I hook up my iPad 3 to my Apple HDMI connector, I get about 2 seconds of video and sound on my TV and then the video cuts out and all I have is sound. I checked the setup with my iPad and HDMI the connector to this TV and that worked with other apps such as YouTube and video stored on the iPad from iTunes. (In the past I have used my iPad + HDMI connector to watch Netflix on a TV several times.)

This problem was discussed in the comments to this article and no solution was found.

On an HBO website it says;

"What devices will HBO NOW be compatible with at launch?

At launch HBO NOW will be available on desktop/laptop computers as well as iOS devices, including iPad®, iPhone®, iPod touch® and Apple TV®."

I was hoping that HBO Now & my iPad 3 + HDMI connector would work but I guess not.

Any thoughts?
