How do I stop getting so much spam emails

I am getting close to 30 spam emails a day and most of them are either sexually explicit or ads how can I stop all these from coming to my mail? They always show up in the junk but I have to erase them all daily because they are horrible. Can anyone walk me through getting these to stop coming in? I have a Macbook Pro 2010
