Jun 30, 2015 1:05 PM in response to allanfromlarkhallby Silkdad,I'm trying this too with my son who is at down at school... It seems like he has to say he wants the family plan at $14.99 per month. I'm wondering if he should just do that and it will "Know" we are on the same family plan together and not double charge us in 3 months?

Jun 30, 2015 1:11 PM in response to allanfromlarkhallby Escaport,In order to use the Family Apple Music subscription, you have to also be using the iCloud Family Share with the people you wish to share to under iCloud settings on your device.

Jun 30, 2015 1:12 PM in response to Escaportby Silkdad,I definitely am doing that and it's set up correctly on that end. It's just that my son doesn't "automatically" have Apple Music available. It's showing him a screen and asking him to join the free trial as either an individual or a family.

Jun 30, 2015 1:15 PM in response to Silkdadby Escaport,Ok. Yeah, that's the same reason I'm on here. My daughter's iPhone works and is on Apple Music, but my wife's doesn't recognize it and wants to start a new subscription as well.
Just wanted to make sure that everyone knew that iCloud Family was a prerequisite.

Jun 30, 2015 1:21 PM in response to Escaportby Escaport,★HelpfulI was able to fix it on my wife's. I had to do the following:
1. In settings under iTunes & App Store I clicked on "APPLE ID: XXXX@me.com" and signed out.
2. Signed back in using the Apple ID for that person.
3. In settings under Music I turned off "Show Apple Music".
4. Double clicked home button on iPhone and quit music and settings. (Using slide up gesture to quit the apps)
5. In settings under Music I turned on "Show Apple Music".
6. Reopened Music app.
This solved it for my wife's phone.

Jun 30, 2015 7:01 PM in response to Escaportby MIKEMCH16,I tried this and was able to have a separate apple music account for my wife but now we can't share app purchases anymore. Did you check to make sure that your app purchases were still shared across devices?
-
Jun 30, 2015 7:34 PM in response to MIKEMCH16by Teknokyle,I as the organizer had to turn off sharing for myself and re-enable it for it to work correctly. The Apple Music subscription is now functioning properly, but the purchases are not showing....that may take some time

Jun 30, 2015 7:38 PM in response to Teknokyleby MIKEMCH16,My purchases did end up finally showing up but when I navigate to an app in the app store directly it still says I have to pay for it. But if I go to the updates tab and then look at purchases from family members I can download it for free. Is this how it is supposed to work or should the app store be saying the apps are free as well? Thanks!

Jun 30, 2015 7:45 PM in response to MIKEMCH16by Teknokyle,I noticed the same thing with the apps. I will let it sit and see it in the morning. Did the music purchases take awhile to show up? I have purchased a lot over the years and a ton if it is missing

Jun 30, 2015 7:57 PM in response to MIKEMCH16by Teknokyle,I found them - they show up similarly to the app purchases. It seems you need to dig in there to download it again for free. It certainly isn't elegant or simple to get to, but functional.
