Jun 30, 2015 8:45 PM in response to allanfromlarkhallby Daniel Clarke1,I am having the same problem but was unable to go through the steps successfully.
I remember having a similar issue with a Beats subscription back in the day because there was a special deal with AT&T.
For now I just signed everyone up for the free trial and turned off auto renew. It will get me through September and hopefully it will be fixed by then.

Jun 30, 2015 9:17 PM in response to allanfromlarkhallby JupiterGPL,I have tried “escaports" method of adding Family Members to Apple Music. Didn't work.
I have tried "spheven" method of removing a family member from Family Sharing and then added them back. Didn't work.
Nothing is working to get my family members on Apple Music after I subscribed to the Family Plan.
Apparently "It Just Work's" died with Steve Jobs. Do they test this stuff?

Jun 30, 2015 9:39 PM in response to allanfromlarkhallby ipodfreek,Wow... I try to express my dislike for the implementation of a feature, and the "Host" of the forum keeps removing my post. Real classy.
So let's keep this technical so we don't break any "rules":
1. It's not going to work unless you setup your account as a Family Share in iCloud
2. Get your wallet ready because you have to pay for everything any family member buys
3. Not sure why Apple Music is setup this way, someone please elaborate.
Is that on target enough for this forum? They are all fair statements/questions.

Jun 30, 2015 9:43 PM in response to ipodfreekby JupiterGPL,This thread is about those of use that have Family Sharing and still can't get it to work. You are frustrated because you have to use family sharing at all. That is a different complaint.

Jun 30, 2015 9:46 PM in response to ipodfreekby MIKEMCH16,I mean you make some fair points but I honestly think very few people expected it to be implemented any other way than it is. They are trying to prevent a bunch of friends from creating a "family" because it is devaluing the content (apps, movies, music, etc). They did the one credit card thing on purpose for the sole purpose of preventing people from taking advantage of the system. In most actual families the one credit card thing isn't a huge deal (although I admit it is definitely an inconvenience for some more than others). One thing you could do is get everyone on board with Square's Cash App which allows for fee-free cash transfers between individuals using only a debit card. It is super easy and convenient and you could have everyone pay the credit card holder any time a purchase is made - I know not ideal but again they are trying to prevent 6 friends from becoming a family purely to share media. I know you are frustrated and that is fair but it's not implemented this way purely as a big F*** you. I'm sure the content creators and app developers had some say in the decision as well. Hopefully you can find something that works. Good Luck!

Jun 30, 2015 9:46 PM in response to JupiterGPLby ipodfreek,No. That's not true. I'm trying to get Apple Music to work for the family plan so everyone can use it, but I'm getting held hostage by the process. I just want to share the music plan. That's it. It won't work because I don't want to have my debit card out there getting charged when someone in my family wants to buy something. The problem is that you can't choose the payment method. If my kids could buy something, then choose which payment method to use, this wouldn't be an issue.

Jun 30, 2015 9:49 PM in response to ipodfreekby JupiterGPL,All you have to do is set it up so that you must approve family member purchases. Then they can't buy anything without your permission. It's not that hard. In fact, it's very slick.
Now does anyone have an actual solution to those of us who can't get it to work and have Family Sharing on?
-
Jun 30, 2015 9:51 PM in response to JupiterGPLby ipodfreek,JupiterGPL- You are correct. The problem I have is that when I approve the purchase, I'm always the one paying for it. What if they have an iTunes card? Why can't it let them choose which payment option they want to use?

Jun 30, 2015 9:55 PM in response to ipodfreekby MIKEMCH16,"Why can't it let them choose which payment option they want to use?" I clearly outlined this in my previous post as to why one credit card is the rule. Of course it is possible - they intentionally designed it the way they did for a reason. One thing you could do is have the permission feature turned on and then when any purchase comes through from the kids you could send a money request to them on the Square App I mentioned. That way you don't have to wait for them to get around to paying you and you can request the money yourself. Anyway I don't think any more venting is necessary in this forum and I think you will just have to find a solution within apple's parameters. Sorry - Good luck!

Jun 30, 2015 10:07 PM in response to ipodfreekby JupiterGPL,The iTunes card goes on their account. Once they go through that money, it will start deducting from your account.

Jun 30, 2015 10:33 PM in response to allanfromlarkhallby Mark Shykula,I Removed everyone from family sharing, turned it off. Turned it back on, added the family back and then had them log into apple music. Fixed the problem. Everyone is sharing and has their own lists and "for you" now.

Jun 30, 2015 10:40 PM in response to Mark Shykulaby El_Gabo,ive tried that as well, however my wife is still unable to see either apps I have or the family music membership, don't think it is only on music side, maybe a delay in the servers that need to sync between different ids?
guess ill drop it off for now and keep testing in the morning
