Sum not working correctly

Hi there.

It seems that the SUM function is not working correctly. In the following example there is a simple sum. Just the first cell has a value, the rest of the cells are empty. However the Sum value of the cells above is different than the value of the first cell.

If I change one of the cells (e.g. add a value and then remove it or change the Data Format to 'Number' and then back to 'Currency') then the Sum value is calculated correctly.

Any idea of why can this be happening?

what formula is in the cell where the sum is?

Please post a screens shot showing the formula in the cell and the cells that sum references

Why is there a space between $ and the number?

What is the cell data format? (Format panel > Cell > Data Format)

Hi Ian,

There is a space between $ and the number because the cell data format has the Accounting Style flag selected. Attached is the screenshot.

I cannot repeat this. What is the contents of each of the other cells in the sum? Are there any cells with white text?

click on each of the 6 cells in the sum and confirm what is in each cell. Also... please email the document to me so I can look at it. my email is in the bio of my profile

Hi Wayne,

After making a change in one of the cell's format (From Automatic to Currency) I can't replicate the issue anymore.

I will continue working and if I find the issue again I will send you all the additional details you requested to continue the analysis.
