I have a Mac Mini (late 2012) That has always had a White boot screen with a Grey Apple logo and progress bar. After the 10.10.4 update I now have a Black boot screen and a white apple and progress bar. Did anyone else have this happen?

Same problem on my Mac Mini (late 2012). Also the wifi-problem is'nt solved.
I had the same thing happen with my mac mini. But my Macbook pro still has the white screen. Maybe it was intentional?

Doesn't bother me, but a heads-up from Apple would have been nice instead of forcing people to search for answers.

Same issue here on 2012 mini. Maybe Apple is trying to send a message about the future of the mini? 😟
It does bother me, because now it is no longer possible to know when to press the Option key for alternate boot options when the speaker volume is down.
If I reboot to the Startup Manager, I just make sure to hold ⌥ as soon as the shutdown indicator disappears.
I know that's the login screen, I couldn't remember if the Apple logo appeared on the shutdown screen or not.
So I grabbed a screenshot from the web and cropped it, but didn't crop the logo. When I rebooted again I realized I should have.
I've also noticed that on the black shutdown screen sometimes the circle indicator is visible and sometimes it isn't.
Way to go Apple! 👿

My observation is that the indicator is only be visible when necessary. I.e., when it takes longer than normal to close down the running processes before shutting down.

Of course that's easy to do if you're pressing the power button, but not so easy to do when you're restarting, which I believe is what most of us were talking about.
In our office we've got six Mac Minis. Three of them have the black background after upgrading, while three others do not. I'm thinking it has to do with what version Mac Mini it is, because the ones that still have the light background are from 2011, or earlier. Though I don't know if that's really the case.
