Why won't bootcamp install windows 8?

Hi I have a 2011 MBP 13" 2.4Ghz intel core 2 duo with 4gb RAM

I have formatted it and done a fresh install of OS X Snow Leopard and upgraded to Mavericks, So pretty much a clean slate.

I also want to install windows 8 with bootcamp.

I have bootcamp 5.1.2 installed.

When I go through the bootcamp process after downloading the drivers and storing them on a USB drive it gets to the point of needing a windows installation disk which I have. After inserting it and clicking on continue it says that bootcamp can only install Windows 7... I only have windows 8... Is there any way around this kenundrum?

Thanks

Scott
