Q: iPhone 6 sync is stuck at "importing photo" step
Trying to sync iPhone 6 via iTunes, and for the first time, it's getting stuck at the "importing photos" step. I've synced this many times w/o issue. I tried importing photos to iPhoto (yes, I'm still using that other than Photos until I get the library squared away), and the importing process got stuck there too. Restarted iPhoto, found the imported photos in a "recovered photos" folder, then deleted all photos from the iPhone 6 camera roll and from Photostream. Tried again to sync via iTunes, and I have the same problem: stuck at the "importing photos" step (even though now there are no photos to import). I've tried two different USB/lightning cables that work fine with the iPad, just to be sure. Any ideas?
Macbook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.3
Processor 2GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
iPhone 6, iOS 8.3
iTunes 12.1.2.27
iPhoto 9.6.1
Thanks in advance.

See this response to someone having the same problem a while back:
Re: Help with iTunes Sync - Stuck on importing photos . . .
I just had this problem, and was actually able to get away with the same approach, but something even less invasive... I held down option and command while I opened iPhoto, got the dialog shown in that response, and just did the first, simplest thing of repairing permissions. This showed me some additional photos and videos that had already been downloaded, so I clicked the button to delete them from the phone. I think I had interrupted the hung iPhone sync and quit iTunes before this. In any event, upon re-launching iTunes, after the permissions fix, the iPhone sync started up automatically and worked first try.
Per the instructions on Apple's web site, I backed up my iPhoto Library first, and that's certainly a good idea if you're rebuilding the database, but if you're just repairing permissions, it's probably not necessary. Though backups are always a good idea, of course.
