my macbook doesnt recognize an iphone when plugged in, why?

My iphone 4 suddenly doesn't become recognizable when plugged into my MacBook.

I'm trying to take my photos from my iphone 4 to save on my computer as i bought an iphone 6, but i can't get them off the phone. The computer doesn't see the iphone 4 any more.

How do i manually do it?

My icloud is full and my itunes or MacBook won't update.

Hello,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

From your post I understand that your Mac is not recognizing your iPhone as a camera in order to import the photos. To help resolve this issue, please follow the directions outlined in the article linked to below.
