Aug 28, 2015 5:32 PM in response to DavidG74by Maser4055,The problem seems to have eased a lot for me. Most of the Tortoise songs are now playable. I think part of the problem was that I am in Australia and the licensing of music is probably different here than in the States. All seems to be going okay at moment.

Oct 4, 2015 12:29 PM in response to DavidG74by groeswenphil,Initially I noticed that tracks that I'd collected in a playlist had tracks that I hadn't bought greyed out. I tried some of the above suggestions....the greyed out songs then disappeared.
So, a playlist with about 30 songs in it is now reduced to four.

Oct 5, 2015 8:44 AM in response to Maser4055by ProbabilityMoon,I was able to listen to the entire Riverside discography until a couple of days ago, when albums gradually started being unavailable: no longer displayed on the artist page in Apple Music and greyed out in my Library if I added them. As of this moment, there are only a handful of albums, most of them singles, that I can stream. Same thing happened for other bands I added to my library.
I too suspect this is a licensing issue, but it's pretty frustrating that I paid the subscription on the basis that I can stream some specific bands and then finding out I cannot a couple of days later.
PS: Logging out and back in to iTunes did nothing except I had to re-enable iCloud Music Library, in order to get back the playlists and albums added to my library.

Oct 5, 2015 10:41 AM in response to groeswenphilby groeswenphil,Today I tried clicking on HELP in iTunes.
A blank page with the word HELP appeared.
Fat lot of help that was.
It did nothing.

Jan 19, 2016 6:08 PM in response to trevor_by Confused10310,I don't know if someone else has posted this yet, but I was experiencing the same issue, and then when I figured out what the problem was, proceeded to connect my palm to my face very forcefully. At some undetermined point, a large section of my music had been "unchecked", that is to say that all of the music has a checkbox next to it, and apparently checking v. unchecking affects the playability of the music. So all I did was select all of my music by song, right click and click "check selection" and all of my music was suddenly playable. I hope this helps somebody.

Feb 8, 2016 2:10 PM in response to Cheryllisa66by ImAndyBate,Had the same issue and after following these steps ALL of my playlists have been removed.
I think the best way to solve this is to simply stop paying for this "service" and return to Spotify.
very poor.

Mar 21, 2016 1:14 PM in response to trevor_by gszabo, aren't these restricted material?
in OSX itunes, check if Preferences/Restrictions "Music with explicit content" is unchecked.
On an iPhone, go to General/Restrictions. if it is disabled, enable it, give it the f****n passcode it wants, then disable the whole thing again.

Apr 6, 2016 5:24 AM in response to trevor_by Lizab_116,I have recently run into the same problem and man, it's frustrating to say the least. As suggested, I have logged out and in of iTunes on all my devices, but still many albums I uploaded from a CD to to iTunes, still can't be played on my iPad or iPhone.
If this isn't fixed soon, I will cancel Appe Music. Apple needs to step up and fix this mess. Customers should NOT have to rebuild their iTunes library, sign in and out, or spend hours fighting with iTunes and Apple Music. I am very disappointed and although I enjoyed the perks of Apple Music, the hassle isn't worth it. I recall the same thing happened to me when ITunes Match was first release In 2011. You'd think they's have figure this out by now.
APPLE, YOU NEED TO FIX THIS ASAP or you will LOOSE LOYAL CUSTOMERS, like me.

Apr 6, 2016 7:37 AM in response to trevor_by Lizab_116,OK, I think I figured it out how to fix those greyed out songs/albums or at least it's a short term solution until Apple really fixes this probLem.
I opened iTunes on my computer, with my iPad connected, and then went into the Summary for my iPad. Next, I changed the Backup setting backing up to THIS COMPUTERS instead of backing up to iCloud. All my songs are back on my iPad and greyed out. I am still sycing everything, but crossing my fingers this will work for the time being. I have a feeling I'll be switching the back and forth between the two backup settings.

May 3, 2016 7:55 AM in response to trevor_by jnlybbert,This problem has frustrated me for months, but I've found a way to fix it. The songs may be greyed out for a number of reasons. One reason I have found has to do with how Apple Music assigns one of your tracks to a track in the Apple Music catalogue. Sometimes for whatever reason the track it gets assigned to may become unavailable and then your track becomes unplayable, even though you own the music file. I have found a fairly simple solution.
Using a device other than the one you store your music files on, delete the song from your iCloud Music Library. The song will still be in your iTunes library on the computer where you keep your music files. You will see a cloud icon with an x on that track. Right click on this track and select "Add to iCloud Music Library." It should then re-appear on your other devices and the problem will most likely be fixed.
Since you have removed the track from your iCloud Music Library, you'll need to add it back to any of the playlists you have saved to iCloud.
You will find this also works for tracks you have that play the wrong version of a song in Apple Music.

Jun 27, 2016 11:34 AM in response to trevor_by Dj Oscar,Have the same issue. I switched back from Spotify thinking it would have less licensing issues. I'can find full length mix versions of many artists (Paul Oakefold, Mark Night, etc...). Am I wasting my money/time?
Thanks
