Q: Playlists and music are not syncing (can't add any music to my iPhone now)

I just transferred an album of music toiPhone with it, so I believe it can help you sync playlist and music from Mac to iPhone. The problem is, the mp3 tag information did not transfer along with. So the artist names do not show, and the songs don't get properly categorized. If this exists, there must be something better out there that will transfer both the songs and their id3 tags from Mac to iPhone.

When the device is connected, the music appears greyed out under device music, but when I press sync, it appears as if they will sync as the storage is filled with the audio section, gets to step 4 'Waiting for changes to be applied' then abruptly stops and the audio bit disappears.
I've unticked iCloud options, I've also tried them ticked. I've restored phone, i've reinstalled iTunes. I've played about with the library and I've tried ticking manually manage etc.. Nothing works. This is my third night running i've spent on this, it's soul destroying. Please someone help.

NO way would I use apple music, not after the horror stories I've heard, and not after this playlist debacle, now I am in justice mode. I dont rely on machines to make my playlists and select music for me. Mostly at this point I use soundcloud because I can select my own music there and it's free (except for data, which I am now restricted to a finite monthly amount ever since AT&T took away my grandfathered unlimited data by making it so slow as to be unusable).
I was forced to "physically sync" from desktop for everything after the debacle of downloading the update, even though some playlists were created on the iphone. The way I solved the problem is by going to this website: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7104625 and following what "toupsi" said.As one user said "Do they do any user beta testing at all?" Excellent question.

Oct 5, 2015 6:20 AMby gibbo8,For anyone interested, I managed to get my music library back on my iPhone 6, went a long way about it and I dare not sync it again in-case it messes everything up again..
I backed up the phone before restoring as a new iPhone. Once complete, I loaded the music library onto it, which worked. Once this had been completed, I then restored my back up. This then put all my photos, contacts, apps etc.. back onto my phone. Once the phone had turned back on again, the music was still on my phone, correct with album artwork. As mentioned, it's a long a** way of doing it, especially with 4,000 songs to sync. I will eventually try syncing it when I have new music to add but for now I am just going to enjoy having music back on it!

Oct 26, 2015 10:40 PMby aereed213,I just noticed I was having this issue today, and I tried all of the options listed on the first couple of pages of this thread to no avail...
Then with everything set back to normal on my phone, Apple Music and iCloud turned on, I found the SIMPLEST SOLUTION EVER!
With phone plugged into Macbook through USB, music tab selected in iTunes, I clicked on my playlist from the left sidebar, and dragged and dropped it onto my iPhone listed under Devices in this same sidebar. Immediately fixed it.

Nov 5, 2015 2:42 PMby repiscopo,I had the same issue along with my audiobooks not syncing from my mac to my iPhone. Here's what got everything to finally sync. On my iPhone, Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. It worked!!! Again, reseting from iTunes did not work for me. I hope this helps. Man was this frustrating.

This was a lot of work, and I have no clue how so much of my music had disappeared from my phone,but re-checking every selection I wanted from my music list and on my playlists finally synced them to my phone.
It is RIDICULOUS that Apple iTunes keeps changing how music get synced.

HOWEVER, what you said about Apple is spot on - if they carry on like this then they will have no customers left!!!
I am fed up of:
Apple Music being forced on me constantly
Apple deciding to play my songs from the Cloud
Apple ripping me off by making me think I needed to purchase songs I had already paid for by deleting them from my playlist
iTunes playlist deciding the order of music for me
etc etc etc
Apple you're dead to me!!!

Dec 16, 2015 7:49 PMby Burnz007,I don't have Apple Music or iTunes match, I don't have Genius playlists or whatever it is and I don't have icloud music turned on (the option isn't even available) yet certain albums that I ripped from CD using itunes will not sync to my iphone 6 plus... this has taken up way too much time.
I have no idea what else to do

If you don't have any of the Apple Music or iTunes Match services turned on EITHER your computer's iTunes or your iPhone 6, then the probably reason that your own tracks ripped from a CD is either the format you used or the size/bitrate of the files themselves.
Found this webpage that lists the various file formats and bitrates that are supported by iPhones. Now, whether that list is up to date is another question.

When I view my music the recently added list is at the top of the page, I've got it set to 6 months, I thought this was the recently added playlist, but if I select the actual recently added playlist in the left navigation pane it shows the playlist with the 3 dots next to play and shuffle as you suggest, but there are only 12 tracks in the playlist, an album with 8 tracks and 4 singles, whereas on the home page of my music the recently added content from the last 6 months has several albums and the singles. Why isn't this consistent for one, but secondly, the options under the 3 dots don't contain add to device when the device is connected over wifi. So I connected the iPhone via USB incase the menu under the 3 dots changed but it didn't, it still has the 4 options

So I'm still at a loss. And I've never subscribed to Apple Music or iTunes match, I use iCloud only for allowing downloaded content for my music library that is not on my phone, but I don't really need to and my iCloud storage doesn't show that any music is using any space, I'm only using the standard 5GB of free storage and 4.7GB of that is taken up with iPhoto sync, the rest is numbers, pages and stuff like that, but not music.
Whatever has changed recently in iTunes 12.3 or 12.2 or iOS, it's completely screwed my iPhone for playing music as hardly any of the tracks I thought were on there and are checked songs and playlists under the device in iTunes are on there, and the sync's won't complete any more either, it's just totally screwed. Apple should have put an in your face pop up message or something saying if you want to continue using iTunes like you did before you must do this.
I detailed my issues further in this thread last night. So I'm still searching for a resolution.
