Q: Syncing iOS 8.3 with iTunes 10.6.3

I am running iTunes 10.6.3 because I hate how they got rid of the three panes for selecting music.

As such I am faced with the conundrum of needing to upgrade iTunes because I recently got an iPhone 5s. It is running iOS 8.3 so iTunes doesn't even recognize the device. When I connected it to the computer for the first time it said an unknown error has occurred and can't mount the device.

MacBook Pro 13" OS X v10.10.3

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3, 32GB

You are correct that you need to update iTunes in order to sync your iPhone 5s to your Mac. For your Mac, you can download the newest version, 12.2, by simply running the software update.

Is there no way around this?

Or perhaps to have a compatible version of iTunes emulate v10.6.3?
