8.4 update deleted playlists

After taking almost as much space as my music, Apple music now deleted all my 100+ playlists. All the smart playlists but three. This is on my ipad, the ipod touch is okay. Okay other than Music now having taken over almost all of the screen real estate. Don't want it, but probably stuck, but I DO want my playlists back. Years of work.

iPad Air, iOS 8.4

There is definitely a bug with this release. I got my playlists back temporarily by toggling iCloud Library off and then on again but then you have to re-download everything for offline listening. The next time I did a sync with iTunes, the playlists were all gone again until I toggled iCloud Library again. If you don't plan to make any changes and skip doing another sync until they release a fix for this, it's annoying but not too bad. I think I'm done with syncing until a fix comes out. This would quickly burn through my monthly data cap.

It's not syncing my playlists from my MacBook Pro onto my iPhone. I tried to do a restore and now in iTunes, I don't even have the option of selecting playlists or albums or songs to sync onto my iPhone. This is such a terrible terrible first release and such a step backwards if this is not going to allow me to listen to my own music offline...

This is what worked for me. I turned off iCloud music on my phone. This, of course, deleted the music I had downloaded today. I then synced with itunes on my MBP. After I did that, I turned iCloud music back on via my phone and a message popped up asking me if I wanted to merge my iTunes and Apple Music libraries or remove my iTunes library from that device. I chose merge and that put my itunes playlists back on my phone and allowed me to re download the tracks I'd downloaded on Apple Music. Looks like everyone is in order for me now and my playlists are back.

After i updated to ios 8.4 and itunes 12.2.. And synced my ipad and iphone... all my playlists got messed up.. most got deleted and iPad and iPhone showed different playlist... Total mess.... re-syncing just jumbled things around and still left the mess .

After many trials and errors the followng workd for me:

1- Back up all devices in iTunes to the computer .. Not icloud ( for safety reasons)

2- Turn on "iCloud music liberary" in itunes 12.2 preferences/general .. ( default is off.. but on on ios.. This may be one sourse if the problem )

Wait for iCloud library sync to complete.

3- Sync your devices, if things get messed .. Its ok .

4- Go to your device Settings on iphone or ipad... , settings/music and turn off iCloud music library .

Dont panic.. Playlists and some some or all songs will disappear. ( on iPad all songs disappeared , on iPhone only playlists)

5- Turn "iCloud music library" back on . Wait for library to load .

At this point all playlists and songs should reappear and nothing should be missing

6 - Try resyncing to make sure all is smooth and clear.

also.. If u have problem with streaming songs added to playlists not showing try the following:

For streaming songs to show up in playlists once they are added ... Go to playlist tab on your device. Click on the "my/all/apple playlist PINK link" to show the drop down menu

From the menu turn off "music available offline( only show music on device)" option.. Turn it off.. No green .

All of the above worked on my ipad and iphone.. Both of which got screwed up after ios 8.4 , itunes 12.2 followed by sync through itunes.

Apple... All of the above should be transparent to the user.. The correct settings should be default.

And the process should clearly guid the user .

Thanks - Fix worked i needed a quick solution as going on holiday. Thanks for posting.

Have also noticed that playback has become glitchy and music occasionly pauses on its own account.

All resolvable but for such a big software launch you would assume better testing would have been put in place or Apple may need to extend it's 3 month trial.

How are you? Just recently my playlist called ‘Jazzy N Callan’ removed all my Apple Music songs for no reason on my mac. The iCloud Music Library and show Apple Music is checked under general preference. I have un check and check it again but my Apple Music songs didn't appear. There was was about 215 songs in this playlist and they aren’t showing in my my music too. Can you please help me please? I am disappointed to lose all of my Apple Music songs that I found on it.
