If it's registered to your support profile then you can get it from that : https://supportprofile.apple.com/

If not, and if you have a backup of it on your computer's iTunes, then go into the Devices tab in Edit > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac) and hover your mouse pointer over its backup e.g.

Apple can't try and locate it for you, only you can potentially do so via http://www.icloud.com or Find My iPhone app on an iOS device. If it was on iOS 7+ then it should be harder to remove it from your iCloud account

You've contacted the police ? You should also change any password that were used on it e.g. your iTunes account, email accounts, and any stored on websites, notes, emails, and contact your carrier.
