Q: From Yosemite 10.10.2, can't connect to older AFP server

Hi all,

Sorry for my bad english.

Since OS X Lion, Connecting to legacy AFP services - Apple Support we need to make some changes for connect to our AFP file server who run with SLES (Suse Linux Enterprise Dekstop, see http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7008683).

But, operations describe in Connecting to legacy AFP services - Apple Support won't run on our OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.

Which differences to AFP protocol between OS X Lion and OS X Yosemite?

File /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleShareClient.plist exist for each user on workstation? Or it is the same for all users (administrators and others)?

Because when I copied this file from another MAC, and then I type command

defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleShareClient

I didn't seen my modification.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Regards,

Christian.

    Hi all,

    For your information:

No, I not tried SMB yet. And it is not so easy to change AFP protocol on our servers.

In fact, what is strange is because two Mac Pro run well on our server (one on Maverick 10.9.5 and another on Yosemite 10.10.2), and two others with Yosemite 10.10.2 won't run.

I think it is because we have some differences on these workstation, but i dont see which (i'm not an exert on Mac OS system).

    Hi all,

    Some news.

We now tried to use SMB, with smb:// on our servers, and it seems runs (i have question about files rights, but we test this). But it run differently between 10.6.8 and 10.10.4.

Any other information about Apple File Protocol (AFP) deprecated?

Really, any way to downgrade to AFP on Mac OS 10.10.4? Thanks.

It is good news for our users who retrieve now an access on our files servers

    Regards,

    Christain.
