Album Artwork for Self-Ripped albums gone in 8.4

After updating to 8.4 I opened the new Music App and to my horror I was watching the artwork next to each album and compilation disappear. Literally. The graphics I put myself in iTunes before manually putting the tracks on the iPhone was replaced by the bland standard empty icon with the two eighth notes connected by a ligature.

The artwork is still stored somewhere in the files because when I connect the iPhone to iTunes, browse the music ON the device and get info on a file, the artwork is there.

This is a bug. I understand that the new music app tries to get artwork from the network, but it should NOT override the user's choices, esp if I have neither Apple Music nor iTunes Match active, and always show the user's artwork if available.

I have a similar issue. All my artwork is available on my iPhone 6 - even artwork I put in manually in iTunes. However, on my iPad 3 there is a lot of artwork missing - it appears from both input manually and from music downloaded from iTunes. when syncing my iPad on iTunes (both 12.1.2 and 12.2) there is an odd behavior when at the end of the syncnit appears to be syncing artwork but it appears to end prematurely? At this point in assuming its some bug with iOS 8.4 with the iPad 3 and hopefully it'll be fixed in an upcoming iOS.
