Before I updated to latest iTunes, it always launched automatically when iPhone was connected. I have checked all my settings and they seem fine. Any advice would be appreciated.
Same thing for me; everything else works fine. Not that.

The same happens to me. I think it's a bug in iTunes and until it fixed, it must be open before iTunes, and then connect the iPhone. 😠

It appears as if the latest iTunes has some form of bug. As you say Panchhovilla, iTunes needs to be open in order to sync.
Same problem for me , I tried to download iTunes from the the apple and reinstall everything but does not change

Same issue here as well - appears that the iTunes Helper is the root of the problem - seems to hang shortly after login
