Mac App Store not loading

When I open up the app store on my Macbook Pro Retina (Mid 2014, 13", 8gb ram, Intel Dual core i5 at 2.6ghz), it won't even load the store. It will just sit there and do nothing. The only thing I've tried is restarting my mac. Anyone having the same issue?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

The updates that the App Store found that I needed have now kicked in and ARE UPDATING! One of them is iMovie, a biggie, so I'll still have to wait awhile to see if I can get the iTunes update. Just before updating began working, after the spinning wheel had been spinning for about an hour or so, I received an error message saying a "Helper" could not be communicated with, or something of the sort (I probably should have screen captured it). :-(
