I have an iMac and backup using Time Machine to an external hard disk. However, if there was a fire or a theft I would loose both my iMac and external disk. So I intend to buy a second external hard disk and backup to it once a week and then store it off site.
Presumably it is as simple as unplugging my first external HD and plugging in my second HD and ask Time Machine to backup??

You also have to reset the drive in Time Machine Preferences.
Not sure I know what you mean. Do I 'Open Time Machine Preferences' and click 'Select Disk' to select the new (second) hard drive that I will use occasionally? Thanks
Are we sure that Time Machine won't get awfully confused backing up to two different disks at different times (one every hour and one every few weeks)?
What I would do is remove your normal backup disk and then add the weekly backup. When the backup is complete, reverse the procedure. Or add the weekly disk. Backup and then remove it.
