Q: Icloud music library not activating

When I try to switch on Icloud Music Library it switches back off within a few seconds automatically.

I've tried all the methods so far: airplane mode, remove/add my account, reboot, closing Music app, disabling Wifi.

Country Romania.

I even contacted Apple Support, they had no idea about this..strange.

I see no error message, just the switch going back off by itself in a matter of seconds.

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.4

Tried again the exact steps without success. Icloud music library switches off during the 10 taps. I don't get to the step with hard reboot. Not worth trying anymore Apple screwed us bigtime, I wasn't expecting such lame behaviour from them.

I can confirm that the described method works (iPhone6+). Active for 7 hours now.

    • You can turn the airplane mode 5-6 times really quick then hard reset by just pressing Home button + Power button at the same time until the device resets itself then let go of the buttons. Its not the first time Apple screws with the Romanian customers and I guess its just a reminder that Apple's actions aren't ones to be praised for.

It worked for me as well after a countless number of attemps. No need for hard reset, just a simple restart did the trick.

This still doesn't mean it's a fix for apple music. More like a messy workaround for a buggy program in iOS. But for iTunes this doesn't work so... The whole service still needs fixing for your library to be availible on all your devices.

I managed to get it activated on the iPad as well, however the sync between the devices is not working. So, while active and we can add music to My Music, the features of iCloud Music are not active.

I've got a call from Apple Support, it's been finally sent to engineering. I was assured it will be solved.

I've managed to get it to work using several methods, but once I get to Settings-Itunes store&account it gets deactivated. So until the official fix is made it's no use to try workarounds. I surely hope that Apple is not simply playing the ball, and will indeed fix this issue. I am pretty sure that if Steve Jobs was still alive and running things there, this would not have happened.

Just called Apple Support, they said they've gotten multiple calls about this and the more people that call, the faster they're likely to solve the issue. They said engineers have been notified and that it'll definitely be fixed by the end of the three-month free trial.

The e-mail I have sent to Apple Support Advisor:

    'Hello (...),

Since I saw some comments on the community forum regarding the same issue, saying that the fix may take a while, I believe that an extension (equal to the number of days the icloud music library service has been off) to the initial 3 months period of free membership should be granted; I think it is a fair compensation for the fact that we've only partially benefited from this service.

I am looking forward to hearing your opinion about this matter.

    Thank you in advance!

    Best regards,

    (...)'

Maybe those of you experiencing the same issue should send them similar messages.

If this was a service providing Apple's own content, they would probably grant that, but given that Music involves tons of record labels, it's very unlikely to happen.

At this current state, without being able to save music offline and add it to your own playlist Apple Music is the equivalent on listening music on Youtube , which is totally free plus we get the chance to create our own playlists.

I do expect Apple to offer affected users some free days as a compensation.

I spoke earlier with someone from Apple Support and they've said that the issue should be solved within a couple of days. Here's hoping!

It is not my concern how Apple manages their contracts with their suppliers, but they could very well pay the singers from their own budget the extra days of service; what I do know is that I have accepted terms and conditions for a service I have not received, therefore I believe we should be entitled for compensation.

I am not challenging your statement, I agree that this would be the most likely thing to happen, but then again, I believe we should at least try to state our case.

Off-topic: My friend, are you a Romanian? Where were you last fall when the elections took place?! I would have voted for you with that mentality. Haha.

On-topic: We should indeed ask for any form of compensation. I will have my girlfriend take a look at the terms and conditions (she's a lawyer). I'll get back to you all and let you know what she finds there.

Also, for now, the "workaround" works...meh...pleasingly fine. We are all waiting for the official thing so we can sync devices.

    Cheers.
