After Apple attempts to deliver my iCloud music library I get this error message repeatedly "Genius results can’t be updated right now. An unknown error occurred (4001)." How do I get my iTunes library and Apple music to sync succesfully?

I'm getting the same message too - I 'think' it's because I have too many songs in my library but I'm not sure... I have 42,000 and iCloud Music Library only supports 25,000 for now. Does this sound like it might be the problem you're having too or is your library smaller than 25,000 songs?

I'm pretty sure it's 25,000 (see http://www.macstories.net/news/eddy-cue-shares-apple-music-details-on-twitter/) and I don't think songs you've purchased through iTunes count against that but anything else does. From what I understand, songs that you own that aren't in iTunes are uploaded for you but everything else is just 'matched' like iTunes Match which I could also never use...

At least with iTunes Match you got an explicit message saying you have too many songs - I was hoping Apple Music was going to be smarter...

On the other hand, lots of users are now complaining about their libraries being corrupted and album art changing etc. so perhaps we're lucky we can't sign up yet until they fix some bugs... I haven't got time to try and sort out my library if it gets messed up.

I'm having the exact same problem/error message and I believe it's what's preventing my from syncing me music with Apple Music which in turn is preventing me from adding Apple Music to my playlists in iTunes. At least on the desktop side of things they really botched this launch.

how do i get mine to UNSYNC? i work in the music industry and download alot of promos and demos and stuff, and now they are all on my phone, all i wanted to do was make the stuff i added on my phone, available on my imac, not vice versa

It would be useful to know if everyone having this problem has got over 25,000 tunes in their library so we can try and pin down the cause of that particular error message...

Thanks - I suspect that's the problem but it would be nice of Apple to spell it out a bit more clearly...

66k+ here. I guess that's the problem. Very poor decision to not communicate these limits clearly, there must be thousands of people whose library exceeds that limit.

48,000+ here. Mine is stuck on the same error. Also, my playcounts are no longer updating, which REALLY bothers me. Playcounts are a VERY BIG deal for many of us...

I agree - play counts, smart playlists etc are what has kept me wedded to iTunes for so long. So far mine all seem to still be working perfectly though. In fact, I like everything about the new version (customisable playlist graphics are quite cool too) apart from the fact I can't integrate Apple Music properly...

I am having the same problem but I only have approx. 7000 songs in my library. So I don't think the problem is isolated to 25,000+ music libraries.

Same problems here and my library has 3,685 songs
