Change Apple ID to iCloud Email Solely

Anyone know a way to have your iCloud address be your sole Apple ID? I'm using a Gmail address as the primary Apple ID, but when I try and change it to my iCloud address, it says it cannot be an apple supplied email. I'd rather nothing get sent to Gmail anymore, or anyone else but my iCloud email for that matter.
