Moving itunes music to an External Hard drive

I was told by apple to move my itunes over to my external hard drive to make more room on my laptop hard drive. So I did but now when I go to play music it says it cant find my music? What can I do to fix this?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

If you moved only the iTunes Media folder, choose Preferences from the iTunes menu, click on Advanced, and change the location of it.

If you moved the entire iTunes library, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and choose that instance of it.
