Apple Music won't allow me to sync subscriptions to ipod shuffle

I subscribed to the new Apple Music family sharing plan. Everything seems to be working fine on my mac, ipad and iphone. However, when I try to sync an Apple made playlist to my iPod shuffle, I get an error which indicates that I cannot sync any subscription items. I love running with the shuffle and would love the ability to use some premade playlists from apple music but it seems as though this won't work. For now ... ??? So, is this a "feature" or a bug?
