When using Safari I get an are on the left side of my screen with "My Favorites" listed. How do I hide that section if I don"t want to see it.

Safari 8 (Yosemite): Use bookmarks
Click the Sidebar button
in the toolbar, then click the Bookmarks button
. Or, choose Bookmarks > Show Bookmarks.
