photos app not working properly after yosemite upgrade

A decent portion of my photos open as blank images after upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite and from iPhoto to the new Photos App. How can I address this issue to restore functionality to all my photos?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
