change icloud email

I was on the phone with apple support about merging 2 accounts into one. We had trouble with the email apple ID and so we made a slight change to an email setting so I could delete the one account. Long story short if I go to icloud to turn it on so my pictures will appear on my PC it tries to verify my email account which was bogus (It was used to change the account problem that I had) I need to get rid of the bogus email account that it is trying to access and put in the correct one. I have been to managing my ID but I cant change it there. I have been to the settings on my phone under the icloud app and many of the settings are greyed out. If anyone can make heads or tails of what im saying your better then I am.
