Apple Music: Can I add Songs or Albums to My Music without using iCloud?

Hi

I have two distinct libraries on two laptops that use the same Apple ID. I sync my phone and iPad to one of them only. Although a chunk of the two contain the same music, the last thing I want to do is combine them in any way.

When I go to add a Song or Album from Apple Music to My Music, I am offered a 'take it or leave it' option of using iCloud.

I'm terrified of this. I don't have faith that using iCloud won't make a big mess of my two libraries by mashing them together. I have never used iTunes Match for the same reason.

How can I stop this and avoid using iCloud with Apple Music? There is mention in the dialogue box of being able to change this behaviour in 'General Preferences' - could anyone offer me any guidance on this?

This is the issue Im having too.

I want to use Apple Music but i don't want to see every single track I've ever bought and have apple mess with my library in any way at all.

Its it's taken me a long time to build it up and I've heard some iTunes Match horror stories.

This is exactly my problem with Apple Music, there seems to be no way of synching albums without using icloud library, and when I tried using icloud library it corrupted tags and artwork on some albums.

The only way I have found is to turn icloud library off on the phone, synch the music, then turn on icloud and select "merge". It keeps the synched music. The only problem is when you want to sync more music from your own library in the future you'll have to turn icloud library off again, which will delete all your Apple music offline content. It's clunky and a bit of a mess.

Thanks for this post and the replies i'm having issues.

I just want to ask one thing you could help me with.

I turned it off on my phone etc. And when i went to add music from my iTunes library to my phone it won't let me still. I'm literally hitting a brick wall.

I have music that's not on Apple music and i want it on my phone along side apple music.

Are you able to help at all ??

Make a complaint to Apple. Hope they allow sync from iTunes to iOS without turning off iCloud Music Library.
