Q: iTunes won't sync new music onto iPhone 6 after iOS 8.4

Yesterday I backed up my phone before upgrading to iOS 8.4. Today I added more music (from a few CDs) onto iTunes to add onto my iPhone. However, this new music refuses to sync onto my iPhone. I've tried unchecking Sync Music and rechecking Sync Music but to no avail, and i'm unsure what to do at this point. I'm afraid to delete any music off my phone now due to this problem.

I may be the only one, but I'm not understanding what c.gold is saying. On my computer, when I click the music section, all it says is that "iCloud Music Library Is On". There is no place to check anything.

The exact same problem by me. I have'nt signed up for Apple Music and don't have the "iCloud Music Library" option either... I updated iTunes to 12.2.1 yesterday but my iPod Touch still won't sync. It gets stuck on the "determining tracks to sync" stage and nothing new gets synced to the iPod. Is there any solution? It's really frustrating...

Don't worry guys, this issue is happening to everyone right now unfortunately. It's a bug in either 8.4 or the new iTunes update and I'm sure Apple are working on a fix right now which will probably be in the next update, sit tight for now friends!

Obviously not sure if this will work for anyone else, but I tried a pretty simple thing: I unchecked "sync music" in iTunes, applied and synced, then re-checked it and resynced. Probably should've thought of it before I spent two hours trying to restore my phone and all that hoopla.

SOLVED MY SYNCING PROBLEM, LOST ARTWORK AND MISSING PLAYLIST SONGS:

After updating my iPod touch to IOS 8.4 all my album artwork was gone. Syncing the iPod to iTunes did not restore the artwork to the iPod and new music was not transferred. Also updated iTunes to 12.2.4 at the same time. After the iTunes update, one of my playlists (which took many hours to create) was in the list, but the songs were gone.

I have not enabled iCloud or Apple Music.

Here is what worked for me after much research and trial and error and a non-productive call to Apple Care:

Getting Sync to work and restoring artwork:

    1. iTunes > preferences > general > uncheck show apple music
    2. Performed the two button reset (Hold the top button and the round button at the same time until the iPod restarts and shows the Apple logo.
    3. Deleted all songs from the iPod: settings > general > usage > manage storage > music > Edit. Click minus sign in circle next to all songs, then press delete to remove songs from iPod, (I tried syncing without deleting songs from iPod but that did not work).
    4. Sync iPod with iTunes (I did this while signed into iTunes account in - not sure if that is required, but Activity Monitor showed data was being downloaded by iTunes at the beginning of the sync). Sync took around 4.5 hours because 6,500 songs in iTunes are ripped as Apple Lossless and my sync options are set to convert higher bit rate songs are to 192 kbps.

After this procedure, my iPod music artwork was restored as well as recently added music from iTunes.------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------

Restoring lost playlist songs and recently added music to iTunes  (this happened after updating to iTunes 12.2.4)Used procedure from::https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6561This text is from the above link:
    Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash

    1. With iTunes 12.2 or later it may pay to turn off iCloud Music Library and Apple Music before attempting to restore an older copy of your database as shown below. These options can be found under iTunes > Preferences > General (Mac OS X).
    2. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder (inside your main iTunes library folder) there should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. iTunes should now show all your content, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library. Before doing this, make note of any recently added music  by artist name & album name so you can find them to restore in step 3.
    3. When the backup has been restored you can use File > Add folder to Library and choose the iTunes Media folder to add in any new media added since the backup was made.
    4. Sync iPod with iTunes again to restore the lost playlist songs and recently added songs.

I can find that option. i have done multiple resets, restores, and deleted the Mobile device management from my phone.

I clearly dont see "iCloud Music Library" option on my phone!

    Please advise.

I was having the same problem.  I have an Iphone 6 I would purchase a few songs on Itunes, add them to an existing playlist and out of 4 songs 2 would be added to the play list 2 would be on located in music My Music but not in the designated play list.  I must have synced 50 times trying to get the songs in the right playlist.  I didn't want to delete all 7000 songs and add them all back.  I tried one final thing that seems to work.  I noticed that it had no problems adding a playlist when I ripped the songs from a CD, created a playlist and added the songs to that playlist, they synced right away.  So I unchecked one of the playlists that consisted only of ripped music, synced, then added the playlist back on to the phone and voila, the songs I had been trying to sync were there.  Not sure if this helps anyone else but it's worth a shot before a factory reset.

TThank you so much c.gold. I honestly thought I was going crazy as after the sync I could not find my playlists anymore, and I thought is it me or has something happened cos I can't get music on to my iPhone. Been on my computer two hours trying to figure this out. Honestly thank you again.

every time iTunes has an update it makes everything more ******* complicated and harder to use. Apple, please just make the next update an early version of iTunes and quit trying to make everyone buy music strictly from the iTunes store.

I tried this, and while my most recently purchased music did finally show up, my iPod is now excluding not 20% of my music as before, but 75%. Apple needs to hear how much this update *****. They need to stop being such putzes with their software and get their act together.
