Q: iOS 8.4 slow wake on iPad Air 2

After upgrading to iOS 8.4, I noticed that there is a 1-2 second delay before the screen turns on after waking it up.  This generally happens if my iPad has been locked for a few minutes and I'm certain that this wasn't present in iOS 8.3.  Has anyone else noticed this behavior?  I'm going to submit a bug report to Apple, but wanted to reach out to the community first...

AIr 2 128 gig wifi. Extremely annoying. It is because of music software I'm relatively sure. Even though everything is turned to off relating to new Apple music the lag is the same. This should be a choice, not a must do To follow an upgrade path. It's bloatware.

How do you downgrade. I never knew it was possible. Please, if allowable, give instructions. I thought it was to fix the shortcut problem. A problem which I solved easily, but all this bloat ware starts to slow my Air 2, 128 gig, wifi which is the reason I left the p world forever. The watch appeared one day, something I would never consider, while still tied to a phone. It just makes no semis at all to me. The only possible explanation is the print id was instantaneous and perhaps someone found a way to get in so the lag is necessary. I doubt that but in case, I still would take that chance. I'm not interested in joining a music club not share my music with Apple for a 30% gyp. So, it should have been an optional upgrade.

My ipad Air 2 128gb wifi/cellular is horribly slow.  To turn on the screen using the power button...SLOW.  To use fingerprint...SLOW.  You almost don't think it's reading your fingerprint and then about 3 seconds later it will go to the home screen.  Launching apps seems a bit slower as well and closing apps (minimizing) is definitely slower.  I have tried to force reboot and turned off the music connect feature and disabled everything icloud except find my device...and nothing is helping.  This is just horrible

Another issue. I fought for one year to get a guaranteed 27/7 from the provider service I was paying for. I finally got it the day after I gave up. Now, I have a constant 61 Mbps down and 6.53 up with spikes of 13+. Safari is as slow as it's ever been. What is the issue with that. It takes as long or longer than a p which I will never use again.

A one time fluke, but it's fairly obvious the throttling always going on and the speeds we should be receiving for the fees paid.

    3280 Mbps down.

I (Get) this and an annoying double the same word plus with all of bloat turned off, a change of what Air 2 thinks I should have said, plus an embarrassing flaw that likes to substitue a four letter (work), word, beginning with f which I caught just before I sent it off to my Pastor. The homey software should not even know this word because I always use asterisks.

And have apple done anything about this? - it appears not.

I spent the best part of £1300 on a new ipad and iphone 6 at the beginning of the year,  am I wrong for expecting better than this?

    Very

We don't know what Apple has done or will do. All that we have are some work-arounds that I've posted here:

iOS 8.4 iPad Air 2 rotational & wake delay issue work-arounds

A new topic makes it easier for me to link to since these work-arounds are posted in numerous other topics as well. Seems to me as if users are probably not reading the entire topic(s) due to the length and are missing the work-around that has already been posted within the topic(s).

it also happened to my ipad air 2 wifi.

pressed the home button and thought the ipad battery ran out. 2 secs later it pops out.

rotation problem interim solve by pressing the power button (sleep) and wake it again. overall I notice the toggle screen has some delay as well.

closing an app also has delay.

Is anyone planning on joining the public beta for iOS 9.0? I'm debating on doing it to see if it fixes the slow wake issue.

Don't do it. Beta programs come with a world of their own problems. When you sign up to be a Beta tester you sign a Non Disclsure Agreement with Apple. Any problem you have all you can do is file a bug report with Apple.  If your above reply said "I signed up to be a Beta tester for the rotation problem." it would be deleted in seconds.

I'll agree with Bob...don't do it. And especially don't do it just "to see if it fixes the slow wake issue". Beta code is beta code...something may be fixed while something else may be seriously broken/disabled. If you have no experience beta testing anything, just stay away. I've been personally involved with home PC's for well over 30 years and while I've beta tested many OS's and lots of software, I don't know if I'd really want to subject one of my personal iOS devices to beta code. It might be different if I had a specific testing devices but I don't.

Following on from yesterday - I've referred this issue to support, I have also noticed a slight slowing of the iphone 6 system too, notably opening and closing of apps - the camera being the main cause for concern.

Last December I was running a 4s 16GB - during the course of last year I noticed it became less and less responsive, I put it down to the memory so I went out and bought a new 32GB 4s.

Only to find there was no difference.

One of the guys in the Apple store explained that the 4s was not able to cope with the operating system in place at that time......

    So I bought a new ipad Air 2 128gb and a new iphone 6 128gb

What I'm seeing here with the latest update is the start of what I experienced last year, now having spent £1300 on new hardware this seriously concerns me.

I dont want Apple's products if they are going to be messing up the functionality again....................

Lets see where I get with this today, I have incoming calls at 11.15 for the pad and 11.45 for the phone.

I also not Apple have stopped signing 8.3................ Yesterday........

TThe Beta will be based on a perfectly functioning 8.4. Look at what I just typed carefully. Is 8.4'perfect. Do not install.

iPad Air, 128 gig, wifi. I upgraded Pages. I chose not to update Numbers or Keynote. I rebooted once. I shut it down. Then, this morning, all is normal, with all the original problems, instant on. How unstable is that?
