numbers on photos disappeared in ios 8.3

Used to be when I went into photos at the top it said photo X of Y. This made locating a specific photo very easy. Now that no longer appears - only the date and location of the photos is there, which is of absolutely no help to me. How do I get this back? I have references written down to picture numbers and have no idea what date or location they are from. For instance I need to find picture 312 of 744. Counting all that seems a bit ridiculous since I am working with a computerized device.
