What happened to my icloud songs?

I just updated my iphone 5 to ios 8.4, and I've had nothing but problems with the recent itunes update. I used to be able to delete songs, but they would still be re-downloadable from the cloud. Now, I can't find any way to access those deleted songs. Where did the songs go and how do I get them back? I've restored my phone, backed it up, quit and restart, and nothing happened. They don't even show up on my laptop's itunes. I went into my account info, Itunes in the Cloud, manage hidden purchases, and clicked "unhide all". This did nothing at all. What is going on?!
