I downloaded the free update that was pushed to my Mac Mini and let the computer do an installation. The installation hangs up my Mac and now it won't work. Is there anything I can do to go back to the OS it had before? I'm new to Macs. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Never trust push updates. If you didn't backup your data, read this tip:

Always backup your data before applying updates. Turn off all push updates through the system preferences in the Apple menu.
If you had been using Time Machine to back up would be easy to roll back.
