Can't login to Find My Friends with two factor authentication

I am running iOS 7.1.2 with two factor authentication enabled on my iPhone. Today I got logged out of Find My Friends and now I am unable to log back in. When I put in my password, I get the dialog saying verification required. When on the next screen, I can select the options (SMS or my phone) but when I click the next button, nothing happens (the next button flashes like I am pressing it). I also clicked the option to use the recovery key and the next button doesn't work there either. I have restarted and uninstalled/reinstalled app with no luck.

Any ideas (other than upgrade to iOS 8 or disable 2FA)

Thanks

Chris

I have this EXACT same issue. In addition to the steps listed above by Chris, I tired to generate and use a application password. No luck. How do we get past this screen?

Chris, what are your device specs? This is my scenario:

CDMA iPhone 4 (WiFi only, cellular disabled)

iOS 7.1.2 (newest OS available for this device)

Find My Friends 4.0.1

Apple ID with 2 step authentication enabled

Interestingly, I did not have this issue when I recently signed into on my iPhone 3GS (iOS 6.1.6).

Thanks Chris. Unfortunately Apple's suggestion of "upgrade to iOS 8" doesn't work for me for this device as I am stuck on 7.1.2. As a test, I had an old installer of Find Friends 2.1.1 laying around that I was able to install on my device via iTunes. Same exact result. Get to the screen asking me to verify with one of my devices and I get stuck.

In the end I had to disable 2 step authentication to get past this hurdle. Once I was logged in to Find Friends 3.0 on iOS 7.1.2 on my iPhone 4, I re-enabled 2 step. So far it has kept me logged in, so I guess that worked.

It is unfortunate that the application specific password isn't an option here. I get it that older stuff can't always be expected to play nice with newer options that come out. But isn't that pretty much exactly what application specific passwords are for? Allowing us to set up applications that were not originally built with 2 step in mind?
