asking for old iTunes account password

I made a new iTunes account because my old one was shared with my exwife .. I then went to the App Store to make a purchase but the Box opens asking for my password but still displays my old email address/ID. I have re-booted but I cannot get into the app store or download updates without it asking for the old account password which I don't have.
