iTunes 12.2 what happened to the downloads window?

I'm running Mavericks with all current updates applied, on a 13" MacBook Pro (2012). After I upgraded to iTunes 12.2 I went to download a previously purchased movie from the iTunes Store.

After selecting the movie I wanted to download from Purchases, I clicked on "Window" up in the iTunes menu bar, meaning to bring up the downloads window so I could track progress of the download (I have only a 3Mbps DSL connection) and discovered that now there's no such option in the Windows menu list. It just shows options to display the iTunes, Equalizer and Mini-Player windows .

So.. ?!? Is there some other way that info on in-progress downloads from the iTunes Store is presented now, and how do I access it?

I have not encountered other issues with the 12.2 upgrade so far. I have regular playlists, Smart ones and Genius ones and they all seem fine. All my tracks still appear to have the metadata I assigned to them. I don't use iTunes match and have not signed up for Apple Music so far, so some of the issues I have been heard about are not on my plate. Just need that missing downloads window or a way to find equivalent information on download progress. Any clues for me?

I liked the downloads window. It wasn't just small file songs that I download, it's gigabite size updates and iTunes purchased movies etc. It does use up a fair chunk of your download when you are doing other things. But as I have seen many complaints of iTunes features and services degraded since version 9 i do not see that Apple will put these back. Wish they read these forums with a more serious attitude. These features need to be driven by customer needs, not Apple direction. Surely it isn't that hard? I have put my feedback in. Here's hoping everyone else does too.

If you right click on the list you get the Pause/Pause All options. If you select an item in the list and right click you get Pause/Pause All/Delete/Show in Playlist options. If you have any downloads paused you also get the Resume/Resume all options.

I have found everything I wanted in the downloads window except for the ability to see how fast the download is going. You used to be able to select the item and click it a second time and have the average download speed display (i.e. 768K/sec, 3M, etc) I found this invaluable in diagnosing download speeds and issues.

I found the stop/pause buttons!!!! Just make sure that iTunes is not maximized on your screen. Shrink it a bit and be sure there is room to the right of your now shrunken iTunes window. Then when you click on the circle with the downward arrow and the list of downloads appears, you will be able to see the pause buttons for each download like you could before Apple got rid of the separate window. Hallelujah!

Add my name to those who are less than pleased with the latest iTunes "improvement."

I was very used to seeing a list of completed iPhone app downloads to aid me in syncing them to my phone.

I can confirm that the download window code still exists in Windows code as well, because I continued to have my download window available until I unwittingly closed it. Since the code is still there, one would think it would be a simple matter for Apple to add a preference to re-enable it if desired. Hope someone at Apple actually reads these messages.

Yes Apple do read these, but no Apple will not change it, so I am told by a support representative. Suggestions he made were to submit feedback directly to them on the issue. I guess the more people that do that then the more chance we can get it fixed. As an Apple fan for decades I have to say I am looking keenly at the lesser Windows 10 machines as an option for my aging computers.

Hi guys. I just reply to the last post, but I have the same issue with iTunes 12.2. Why did they remove that window? Can't the software just identify the platform and display the downlaod list differently for iOS and Windows? What is really bothering me is that Apple (and many others of their size) put their product on the market without any chance for the user to pick up the phone and call someone, actually. Are they affraid of our complaints? Forums are okay as long as someone will find out the solution to our problems, but I would like to see the company staying behind their product with a quick, responsive, and responsible contact. Hey, but what am I saying here: real customer support? No, just let them struggle with our software and, eventually, they will accept it as is. Why? Because they are already trapped in our marketing net... I know, I am a bit frustrated...

You have the right to be frustrated cos-tan. The rest of us are as well. But from what I am told by an Apple representative Apple have no intention to change it back to the way it was before. Lets hope they can just add the feature back as a preference option, instead of making iTunes a less enjoyable and simple programme to use. Shame on you Apple

Sorry to tell you acseligman, but that feature has been removed. You will no longer be able to see a window to show your downloads that can float on your screen like the old versions of iTunes. Apple has also taken away the automatic download on the Mac version for your podcasts. Now you will have to download them manually, and individually. Hope you don't have too many of them. Apple tell me that they did this because they received a few complaints about auto download and none about how good it was to have them downloaded automatically. So the minority won on this one. Even the Apple Support person I spoke to thought it was ridiculous.

Only way you can see the download window in iTunes is to never close it before updating to the latest versions. People are reporting that the window stays open forever until you close it for the first time, then you will not get it back again. Instead we get a tiny rotating pie chart that does not represent at all the downloads you are doing. Apple stuffed this one up sadly, and with previous history it won't be brought back.

Would be good if someone out there *hint hint* could develop an App that can replace iTunes, I would move to it in a heart beat.
