If the problem is reading comprehension there's speak screen or Vouce Over. Speak scean reads the entire screen. Voiceover is usually used for the visually impaired. You tap the screen and the iPad reads aloud what you tapped.

You may also want to look for some support groups. They may have apps to recommend.
