ATV 1 and Ipad 2

Question

ATV 1 and Ipad 2

Should I be able to see atv 1 on my iPad 2? My mac recognises/ streams to the atv and would like to do that with the iPad, especially as now have apple music.

no the only think they can do together is the remote app

for the ipad2 to use a device as speakers or display the device has to support airplay

the old appletv does not it support an older version called airtunes which let itunes use it as speaker but not ios devices

I use the remote app on the iPad to control iTunes on my mac but unfortunately you can only search the library on the mac not the new apple music - hopefully they will update remote to allow this? The mac then streams to ATV in the garden and it's pain going back to the house to use apple music!

Looks like I'll have to get a later ATV.
