iTunes problem after upgrading to OS X 10.10.4

I just upgraded a Macbook Air (early 2014 model) to OS 10.10.4 (and iTunes 12.2.0.145). I have an iOS device running version 8.3. My problem is that after syncing the device to iTunes, the "eject" button within iTunes doesn't work. I get a "rainbow wheel" and the only option is to "force shutdown" the Mac.


How can I fix this problem?
