My sound on apps doesn't work after the 8.4 update

if it works when you connect a headset to it then it's freak chance it happened when you updated because it's a known hardware issue

I Got the same problem here too. After i upgrade to 8.4 no sound if i open music or ringtone. But try the ringtone in option menu it sound. And if i use headphones or headset it works....help

as stated it's a hardware issue and the ones with the most knowledge are the 592 people who posted in the link I linked to in my other post

Same here! phone doesn't ring when getting a call or no "ding" when getting and IM and all happens just after 8.4 update!!!

Same here! Very frustrating and needs to be fixed immediately!! My iPhone 6/64G doesn't ring getting calls, no notification or email sounds. Completely mute

This is not at all (just) a hardware issue. For me the speakers work just fine with alarms, with voice recordings (playback), even with radium... however, it doesn't work — or only occasionally — with music ...which is quite frustrating.

Unmuting the device in (Settings / General / Accessibility /) Assistive Touch (turn on) ...actually brought back sound.

I had this issue on my iPad. I have typically used my mute button for rotation lock, so I tried returning it to mute functionality. After doing so and turning the mute button on / off, sound has returned. I have now returned the button to rotation lock, and sound continues to work. Seems like a software bug to me.

I Had a similar issue after the update. My sound was set to mono before the update. Either turn mono off, or move the left / right slider to full left or full right. In mono they set the slider right in the center which results in no sound. Settings > sounds > mono switch.
