Tried updating my software from IOS8.3 to IOS8.4 as Apple instructed. Worked fine on iPhone6 but when I tried doing the upgrade on my iPad2 it has locked it on a black screen with a red iTunes icon. Tried doing all Apple suggest but iPad still frozen. Any ideas?i

What exactly have you done ?
The iTunes icon and cable means that it's gone into recovery mode, you will need to connect it to your computer's iTunes and that should recognise that it's in recovery mode and let you reset it, you can then restore to your backup. Is that what you've tried ?
Thanks for that. I did all that before I posted and it did not get passed the same screen no matter what I did.
I travelled to my nearest Apple Store and they fixed it.
