What is hardware error 4M0T/1/40000003:HDD-1341

My '07 era Mac wouldn't start up, so I ran the hardware test. The result came up as 4M0T/1/40000003:HDD-1341. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

A "4MOT" error is a cooling fan, in your case the fans that cools the hard drive (from the "HDD-1341" part).

Illustrated repair step are here:

However, please note it requires some special tools for disassembly and has a lot of fiddly steps. If you do not feel up to the task, remember that Apple Stores don't work on products more than about five years old so you will need to find an independent Apple tech who still services older models.
