My MacBook is slowly dying. I bought it in 09 so it's time to think about which one to buy next. I don't use the laptop for anything special, just the normal stuff of watching movies, surfing the internet, writing emails, etc. So, I got two questions:
1. Which MacBook should I buy?
2. Where do I get the cheapest price? Apple store or Amazon?

Any of them. If that's all you are doing then they are all more than capable of the job.

How long would it take you to compare yourself? We don't even know what country you're in. But both companies have large websites for all the markets they are in...
I'm in the US and it's pretty easy for me to go to an Apple store, but before I talk to a salesperson I would like to have some ideas of what to look for.
By the way, I don't like having to use an external DVD player so that limits me to only certain types. Oh, I also would like opinions on buying an Apple refurbished one, is it worth the savings or better go for a brand new one?

That simplifies your choice considerable and limits you to just this MacBook Pro: 13-inch MacBook Pro w/o Retina Display. It's the only Apple laptop with an optical drive.
Okay, MacBook Pro is the one. I checked online and found a refurbished one with much higher speed and much bigger memory than a brand new one for similar price. Is it a good idea or not?
Who is offering the refurbished laptop? If not Apple what is the warranty on it?
If you're looking at Apple then that's a good idea. They stand behind their refurbished items as if they were new and offer the AppleCare (3 year) for refurbished items. With a refurbished item, particularly a laptop, Applecare is a good idea.
The refurbished one is from an Apple Store. Do you happen to know how much does the Apple Care cost? I'm worried that by the time I add the Apple Care to the refurbished laptop, the total would be about the same as buying a brand new one?
The Apple standard warranty is 1 year on all laptops. The Applecare will be separate whether it's new or not. Not sure what it runs. Go to the Apple Store, select the item you want and add to the shopping cart. Then next window will offer the optional add ons and should include Applecare.
