Is itunes version 12.2 incompatible with XP? When I try to install version 2,2 after uninstalling the old version of itunes the system insists on reinstalling the older 12.1 version of itunes.

You're welcome (even though you're probably not pleased by the answer). Given the intensive pre-marketing of Apple Music (including lots of free advertising courtesy of Ms. T. Swift) you'd have thought it would have been in Apple's interests to publicize the fact that users would require Windows 7 or 8 to use the new version of iTunes required to make use of the streaming service.
