Microsoft Word is crashing on my iPad

I've got an iPad where they bought Microsoft Word for iPad and it wouldn't open but would just blip and close. We've wiped the iPad and reloaded the newest iOS on it and ONLY installed Word on it and Word still continues to crash.

We are getting:

Exception type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)

Exception Subtype: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x000000016fcabfb8

I found a video on the internet that says to do the following but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Close Word if it isn't already closed.

Go into Settings

Scroll down to Word

Go to "Reset Word"

Slide "Delete Sign-In Credentials" to "On".

Open Word and put in user's credentials and they should be fine UNTIL you close Word or turn off iPad then it will crash again. Repeat and use. Repeat and use. Repeat and use.

Other than the "Repeat and use" scenario, we can't get it to open and stay open even once long enough to put in the user's credentials.

Any suggestions?

Dear All,

I have worked out how to fix the iPad Word crash issue.

You need to open up a word document for a storage source so that it bypasses the first time login screen.

So do the following:

1. Download the Microsoft OneDrive or OneDrive For Business App.

2. Login with your personal or business credentials.

3. Select and open a stored Word document.

4. Now Word For iPad will open every time.

The fault is with the Word For iPad welcome screen and iOS 8.4.

Microsoft needs to issue a patch ASAP.
