Searching library and changing display mode

A thing that has bugged me for a long time is the fact you cannot change the display mode of search results. Maybe I'm expecting a behaviour that doesn't exist.


Say I'm searching my library for "Boney M" either under "My Music" or "Playlists". I get the preview of the results:

If I hit "enter" I get the display of the results, in this case in album view:

If I change the view criteria to say "songs", the search keywords (Boney M) are erased and ignored and I get my entire library displayed as "songs", not the search results:

I don't find this logical. Am I the only one?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 32 GB RAM
